The Buffalo Bills snapped their mid-season losing streak in a home game from Detroit after the snowstorm in Western New York forced Buffalo to relocate. Tyler Bass hit six field goals in the Bills’ 31-23 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Snowy Buffalo pushes game to Detroit
The Bills came into their Week 11 showdown with the Browns having lost two straight games and Josh Allen came under fire after throwing a couple crucial interceptions in each loss. This week’s win wasn’t easy nor was it convenient. They had to sacrifice a home game because of the lake effect snow storm that dumped 77 inches on the Buffalo area.
Buffalo was forced out of their facilities before the airport closed over the weekend, and for the first quarter it looked like the Bills left their offense in Orchard Park. Jacoby Brissett led the Browns on an opening drive touchdown going 4/4 and connected with Amari Cooper on a 25 yard pass to put Cleveland on the board.
It took the Bills four possessions to get their opening first down of the game, but in that time they were able to get a field goal thanks to some great defensive and special teams play.
Brissett fumble changes game
The Browns were in the driver’s seat to start the game and marched down the field, scoring on two of their first three possessions to go up 10-3. Cleveland was using Brissett to move the ball more than Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and it appeared to be working until Brissett fumbled a snap midway through the second quarter to gave the Bills a shot of life.
The fumble turned the tides in Detroit and the Bills switched the offense on scoring 22 straight points. They had to wait until the final minute of the first half to get into the end zone when Josh Allen hit a wide open Stefon Diggs to take the 13-10 lead before halftime.
Allen and the Bills got the ball back to start the second half, and kicked a field goal to add to their lead, but weren’t done there. They scored on all five of their second half drives, with Tyler Bass connecting on four of his six field goals in the final two quarters.
Bills win, Allen doesn't dazzle
It wasn’t the redemption performance that Josh Allen might have been looking for after coming under criticism in the last two weeks. He had 197 yards and a touchdown, but the important thing was the Bills got back to their winning ways and remain in the race for the top seed in the AFC.
The Browns drop to 3-7 with the loss, and it appears that they will be well out of the playoff race once Deshaun Watson comes back in the next few weeks.
The Browns waited too long to turn on the offense. Brissett hit Peoples-Jones on the TD with under a minute to go and the Browns had a chance at the onside kick but the kick bounced out of bounds and the Bills survive to snap their losing skid.
Cooper and Brissett were at times the only source of offense for the Browns. This was their second of the day, but it came a little too late.
The Bills started the second half with a field goal, and then stopped the Browns on 4th and short which set up this 5 yard Singletary TD run.
Allen and the Bills punched back late in the second quarter and found Diggs for the 5 yard TD to take the lead right before the break
The Browns were rolling on the offensive end, but Brissett's fumble on the snap was recovered by the Bills. The Browns offense shut off after that, and Buffalo took control.
The Browns couldn't have had a better start to the game. Brissett had a perfect drive going 4/4, finishing off the possession with the 25 yard TD dime to Cooper.
THAT'S IT!!! THE BILLS HAD TO HIT THE ROAD FOR THIS HOME GAME, BUT PREVAIL AFTER A SLUGGISH START TO THE GAME.

The Browns needed the onside kick, and Harrison almost came up with the ball after it popped off a Bills players' helmet.

It's going to make the scoreline look better, but it' won't do much for the Brown at this point. Brissett hit Peoples-Jones on a two yard TD pass to cut the lead to 31-23 with 19 seconds left in the game.

The Browns bring pressure on 3rd down and Allen is dropped for a loss of 5 as we hit the Two Minute Warning.

Allen hits Knox over the middle for an 11 yard gain on 2nd down, and that will move the chains and force the Browns to take their 2nd timeout.

Brissett and Cooper have been one of the only sources of success for the Cleveland offense today.

It's Cooper and Brissett connecting for the second time tonight, this time for a 7 yard hook up. The two point conversion fails, and the Browns trail 28-16 with 4:11 to go in the game.

If it wasn't for that 78 yard TD drive the Bills would have next to nothing in yards.

Cleveland's QB1 close to return
The Browns brought in Deshaun Watson in the offseason to be their starting quarterback even though he had a pending court case that resulted in a lengthy suspension that would delay his debut in Cleveland. He was finally able to practice with the team this week and is expected to make his first start in the next few weeks, but will not play today.
Allen still on MVP track
Josh Allen started the season as the favorite to win the NFL MVP, and for the first half of the season he was playing like the MVP. In the last two weeks his odds have plummeted after being one of the main reasons the Bills are in the midst of this two game skid. He may have thrown critical interceptions and had untimely fumbles over the last two weeks, but he remains one of the favorites to win the award. He can get back on track in Detroit against Cleveland’s struggling defense.

Cleveland is coming off of one of their worst games of the season. The Dolphins manhandled the Browns for all four quarters, shutting down Nick Chubb and the run game while the offense gained almost 500 yards of offense. Cleveland dropped to 3-6 and are quickly dropping out of contention for the playoffs as Deshaun Watson’s return nears.

The Bills dropped their second straight game last week when the Minnesota Vikings went into Buffalo and stunned the home side in Orchard Park. It was the game of the regular season as the Vikes and the Bills went back and forth. Josh Allen and the Bills had a 27-10 lead going into the fourth quarter, but turnovers and huge late plays but the Vikings turned the game on it’s head as the Bills saw their lead dwindle. Despite the turnovers, Buffalo still had the game in their hands, but let it slip, quite literally. Allen fumbled the snap and the Vikings recovered in the end zone to bring the game to overtime. The Vikings went on to win as Buffalo lost their second straight.

Two teams coming off of Week 10 losses will look to rebound today from Detroit after weather conditions forced the game out of Buffalo.
