Colin Kaepernick “reaches out” to the Jets

It has been six years since Colin Kaepernick took a snap in the NFL, but the 35-year-old has reportedly been in touch with the Jets in a potential comeback.

The New York Jets are struggling. They have had several promising players over the past few seasons get traded away with minimal impact. And now, just when they bet the house on squeezing the last drop of football out of Aaron Rodgers, he tears his achilles and is out for the season.

But for all of the trouble that the Jets have seen, there is an upside to the team. They are willing to take a risk. And if you are a football player with a past, or baggage, then you may be able to get your foot back in the NFL door via the Jets.

When the long-awaited debut of Rodgers ended after only four snaps on Sunday, sports agent Jordan Schultz got a text. “I just need a shot.”

The text was from one of Schultz’s clients, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. For six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Kaepernick was golden. He threw for over 12,000 yards and led the team to the NFC championship three years in a row. And then he had the temerity to ask police forces to stop killing black people with impunity, and the world turned on Kaepernick.

Since then, he has had limited workouts with teams and nobody has offered him a job, even as a backup.

Now, Kaepernick has thrown his hat into the ring with names like Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, Nick Foles, and Matt Ryan for the replacement role in New York. Zach WIlson will have the top job, for the moment at least, but will need to have a backup ready to step in at any time.

Colin Kaepernick has been long out of the league, but is reportedly still training daily and feels that if only he could get a shot, then he could win his life back.
