The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly finalizing a deal to sign former New England Patriots special teamer Brandon King. What you need to know about King.

Veteran special teamer, Brandon King, is about to join the Indianapolis Colts for the 2022 season on a one-year contract.

According to multiple sources, the Colts are finalizing a deal to sign the former New England player, which will help Indianapolis fill the special teams hole they currently have; the Colts lost former All-Pro safety George Odum to San Francisco and core special teamer Matthew Adams to Chicago.

King has been with the Patriots since after going undrafted in 2015, winning two Super Bowl titles. Over his first four seasons, the 28-year-old played in 57 games before he missed all of the 2019 and 2020 seasons due to a torn quad.

Last year, he returned to the field for 16 regular season games, proving to be one of the most consistent players in the NFL’s kicking game.

King, who has played no fewer than 65% of the snaps on Bill Belichick’s special team’s unit, is possibly filling the role of ST Matthew Adams after the former became a Chicago Bear last week.

Brandon King: “I want people to look at me for my character”

Besides King’s accomplishments in the NFL, he is also a player who shows sportsmanship and character strengths. He received the Ed Block Courage Award in 2021, which is given to only one player on each NFL team who inspires and represents the principles of courage.

After winning the award, King said that he cares about being a person people can relate to.

“I’d love for people to look at me as a person, not what I can do for someone,” King said after receiving the Ed Block Courage Award. “And in the community, I love to be someone that can relate to them. You know what I mean? Someone that can understand, because for me, sometimes you didn’t know where your next meal was coming from. Sometimes the power wasn’t on, you know? Different things happen.

“I’m the type of person where I don’t want people to look at me for what I’ve done. I just want people to look at me for my character.”
