Commanders QB Jayden Daniels out for Chiefs matchup
The second-year quarterback suffered a hamstring strain in last weekend’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Washington Commanders will be without Jayden Daniels for the upcoming games against the Kansas City Chiefs after the quarterback picked up a hamstring injury.
Daniels got hurt in the third quarter of last weekend’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The injury has been described as a low-grade hamstring strain and backup QB Marcus Mariota will step in as a short-term replacement.
On Monday Daniels underwent an MRI to assess the extent of the injury. ESPN reports that the injury is thought to be fairly minor, with no long-term damage, but the Commanders want to ensure that he does not exacerbate it against the Chiefs.

Daniels was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024 but has not yet found his best form this season. So far in 2025 Daniels has thrown for 1,031 yards and eight touchdowns, with one interception and a few costly turnovers. In the 25-24 Week 6 loss to the Chicago Bears Daniels was responsible for two turnovers that ultimately proved decisive.
The Commanders are now 3-4 on the season and face a tough run of games coming up. After the Chiefs game are meetings with the Seattle Seahawks (November 2) and the Detroit Lions (November 9). If they can get anything from those games head coach Dan Quinn will likely take it as a bonus.
