Commanders WR Terry McLaurin back at training camp after missing out on $800K in fines and lost workout bonus
The 29-year-old receiver is holding out for a contract extension and was fined after missing the first four days of training camp.

Terry McLaurin vented his frustration at how slowly negotiations have been progressing regarding his new contract.
McLaurin is entering the final year of the three-year rookie contract he signed in July 2022. Since the start of the offseason, there has been talk of a new deal with the Commanders, potentially a two or three-year extension - but five months down the line, nothing has happened.
Earlier this month, the player was quoted on social media - his patience evidently wearing thin. “Everything that has transpired has been pretty disappointing. I’m pretty frustrated, not going to lie,” McLaurin said.

McLaurin in limbo over contract
The situation reached a head when the players returned for training camp last week, with the veterans due to report on July 22. McLaurin didn’t show. And he failed to appear for the next three practices - effectively downing tools until his contract is resolved.
For every session he misses without authorization, McLaurin will be hit with a $50,000 fine. He finally appeared for Sunday’s practice, much to the relief of his team mates, head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters.
On the positive side, Washington’s front office have stated that they are hopeful that McLaurin will have his new contract before the new season starts on September 7 (at home to the New York Giants).

McLaurin could sign a three-year extension
McLaurin’s market value is estimated at $31.1 million per year, which makes him viable for a three-year $93.2 million contract extension.
The WR posted the best figures of his career in 2024, playing with Jayden Daniels. e finished with 82 receptions, 1,096 receiving yards and a career high 13 touchdowns.
