Could the Cowboys make a bold trade? Jerry Jones’ comments fuel speculation
The Dallas Cowboys’ porous defense has even owner Jerry Jones admitting they need help, and after his recent comments, it seems they may seek it out.

The Dallas Cowboys are facing a defensive crisis after a Week 6 loss to the Carolina Panthers, falling to 2-3-1. While the offense has remained strong, the defense has struggled, surrendering 20+ points in every game this season. With the trade deadline coming up on November 4, fans are wondering if the Cowboys have any plans to make some moves. Owner Jerry Jones spoke on the matter on Tuesday morning.
THE 2025 COWBOYS DEFENSE IS OFFICIALLY WORST THAN 2020s DEFENSE 💔#Cowboys defense has allowed 2,470 total yards against them through the first 6 games of the season.

Jerry Jones says nothing is untouchable as Cowboys eye trade deadline moves
In their latest loss to Carolina, the Cowboys were embarrassed by their former running back Rico Dowdle, who rushed 30 times for 183 yards plus four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown through the air. That may have been the wake-up call Jerry needed to admit they need to make a change.
Of course, he’d never admit that trading away defensive end Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers was a bad idea. He insists it helps them in the long run. But in the meantime, something must be done.
Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones mentioned that the team is indeed open to making moves at the NFL trade deadline.
“If we can improve our team and it makes sense for what we give up in the future, all of it’s there,” Jones said. “We have major, major, major resources that we wouldn’t have had if we didn’t make that (Micah Parsons) trade. I promise you, yours truly or anybody associated with the Cowboys has got our eyes really open to ways we can help this defense, and I certainly don’t want to preclude anything on offense, either.

“There’s nothing untouchable in our resources to help our team,“ Jones went on. "And there’s no way I’m at a point right now where I wouldn’t make a move because of where we are in the season. Six games in, I’d act as early as I would if we were talking three games back.”
He also said he doesn’t have a specific trade in mind, mentioning that DeMarvion Overshown’s return could potentially impact things on defense. In addition, he defended defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and said the team plans to use more man-to-man in the secondary.
