COWBOYS

Could the Cowboys trade for WR Davante Adams?

With talk of the Las Vegas Raiders trading away wide receiver Davante Adams, could Dallas be his next home with the Cowboys?

With the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 5, there have been reports that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is looking for a trade. With a little bit of drama adding fuel to the fire, it seems like more of a reality each day. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “the club has begun reaching out to teams to gauge interest in the veteran wide receiver”.

And while the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints have been said to be potential destinations for the three-time All-Pro, could it be possible that the Dallas Cowboys would go for him?

Davante Adams to Cowboys a realistic possibility?

The Cowboys are lacking depth at the wide receiver position. They’ve got their star WR1 in CeeDee Lamb, but beyond that, Brandin Cooks has had three lackluster games in a row and Jalen Tolbert has yet to have a breakout performance. Indeed this very issue is what led to talks of a reunion with Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Adams is no stranger to Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, who was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers when he was drafted by them in 2014. Under his leadership, Adams played three seasons with double-digit touchdowns and one with 1,000 receiving yards.

Would it be amazing to have two star wide receivers on the Dallas Cowboys? Of course. But realistically, Adams is going to come at a cost. Part of the reason for the Cooper rumors is due to the fact that he is affordable. Adams, on the other hand, will cost draft capital and could very well be just a short-term option for Dallas, as Adams is in the last guaranteed year of his contract with non-guaranteed years in 2025 and 2026. And as we all know, Jerry Jones has to be frugal.
