The Dallas Cowboys were given the bad news ahead of their Sunday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that they would not be heading to the 2024 postseason, regardless of whether or not they won or lost in that game or any of the remaining others this season.

But their ray of light stayed shining in the game anyway as kicker Brandon Aubrey set an NFL record.

Brandon Aubrey sets single-season NFL record

During their game against the Bucs, Aubrey made four field goals, three of which were from 50+ yards - two from 58 and one from 53. That makes 14 field goals from 50+ yards out, setting an NFL record for single-season field goals made from 50+ yards.

The record before this game was set by Houston Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn, who had 12. Aubrey went into the game with 11 and made those three to make it 14 and surpass Fairbairn.

The Cowboys ended up winning the game 26-24, with Aubrey accounting for 12 of those 26 points.
