Cowboys show off creative pistol formation featuring KaVontae Turpin
The Dallas Cowboys’ offense is getting revamped under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, seeing All-Pro returner KaVontae Turpin much more involved.

The Dallas Cowboys are getting ready for a new season with a new head coach holding the reins. Brian Schottenheimer is spicing up the offense with new formations and pre-snap movement, a change from Mike McCarthy’s play-calling style.

One big difference under Schotty’s new creative offense is the involvement of All-Pro returner KaVontae Turpin, who’s proven he is a much more versatile player than his previous use would have you believe.
One standout wrinkle features Turpin in the pistol formation, motioning into the backfield for a carry behind quarterback Dak Prescott and fullback Hunter Luepke. The added speed from Turpin combined with fellow receivers CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and rookie Jaydon Blue, could make Dallas’ offense one of the most explosive in the league.

Fans will get their first real look at the new system on Saturday night when the Cowboys make the trip to Los Angeles to take on the Rams at SoFi Stadium in their primetime preseason opener.
