Cowboys vs. Giants betting trends: Pick, odds, point spread and over/under prediction | NFL week 4
After two straight losses the Dallas Cowboys travel north desperately needing a win, and will try to get back to .500 against the New York Giants on Thursday night.
The NFC East takes the spotlight this Thursday as the NFL kicks off Week 4 from New York. Daniel Jones and the New York Giants got their first win of the season last Sunday and they return home to take on a Dallas Cowboys team that has been one of the biggest disappointments of the young season.
Cowboys vs Giants preview
The Dallas Cowboys came out swinging in the season opener. They crushed the Cleveland Browns to ignite another batch of unreasonable excitement and expectations from a team that hasn’t been past the divisional round of the playoffs since Bill Clinton was president. Those hopes and dreams turned into nightmares and despair quickly. First against the New Orleans Saints who waxed the Cowboys 44-19 as Alvin Kamara scored four TDs and exposed the soft defensive line of Dallas. The Ravens did more of the same last weekend, trouncing the Cowboys 28-6 through the first three quarters. There was a comeback bid in the final quarter of an hour from Dallas but their deficit was insurmountable as they dropped to 1-2 on the year.
There were some who thought that the Giants weren’t going to win a game this entire season. I may or may not have been one of the those people, but rookie Malik Nabers had other ideas. After losses to the Vikings and the Commanders, New Yorkers were already getting impatient with the start of the season. The game against the Browns didn’t get off to the best start. A fumble on the opening kickoff led to a Cleveland TD on the opening snap of the game, but Daniel Jones and the Giants fought back thank’s to a couple of TD passes to Malik Nabers who became the youngest receiver in NFL history to catch multiple TDs in the same game.
This is a rivalry that goes back over 60 years, and to say that there is bad blood between these teams would be an understatement. The Cowboys have a commanding series lead with a 75-47-2 record against their long time division rivals. Recently, not much has gone against that historic trend. Dallas has rattled off six straight wins and 13 of their last 14 against the Giants who will be itching to snap that streak on Thursday night.
Spread, Over/Under and Prediction
Heading into Thursday night’s match up from the Meadowlands, it’s the Cowboys who come in as big favorites. Dallas are 5.5 point favorites with the Over/Under set at 45.5.
They may have won last week, but this Giants team is still under heavy construction. I think a familiar foe who they have a wealth of success against is just what the doctor ordered for the Cowboys who have no option but to win this game. On primetime, on their own turf, I would normally say the home team would keep it close but I just don’t see it happening.
Cowboys win 31-10.
