Dak Prescott drops bold Micah Parsons claim as Cowboys eye NFL Kickoff
The Cowboys’ quarterback draws on past experience as he backs Parsons to be ready for the season-opening clash with Philadelphia.
The Micah Parsons contract saga rolls on. His future with the Dallas Cowboys is still up in the air, but inside the building there’s growing confidence that the All-Pro linebacker will stay put in Dallas.
With the NFL Kickoff just days away — and a marquee showdown against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles looming — the Cowboys are keeping their focus on football, even as Parsons continues to push for a new deal.

Prescott “confident” over Parsons
“I’m confident. I’ve said it before,” quarterback Dak Prescott told reporters as the season opener approaches. “I speak from experience, honestly. I believe it’ll get done, and I know he’s ready to play.”
Trevon Diggs: “Parsons loves playing for Dallas”
Prescott isn’t the only one expressing optimism. Cornerback Trevon Diggs echoed his quarterback’s outlook, revealing that Parsons himself has made it clear he wants to remain a Cowboy.
“Definitely. I’ve heard him say he loves playing for us, that we go out there and give blood, sweat and tears every game,” Diggs said. “I know for sure Micah wants to be with us and help this team win. This is his home, so why wouldn’t he?”
Prescott sees parallels to his own contract talks
Prescott compared Parsons’ situation to his own last season, when he finalized his contract extension on the very morning of the season opener. The difference: Prescott still attended training camp and practices while negotiations played out.
Even so, the Cowboys’ quarterback doesn’t believe Parsons’ contract battle will distract the team as they gear up for another playoff push.
“As I said before, we’ve had similar cases the past three, maybe even four years,” Prescott added. “It’s not necessarily a distraction. We’re focused on our job.”
