The Dallas Cowboys ended the exhibition season on a high note by edging out the Seattle Seahawks 27-26 in the final contest of the preseason.
The Dallas Cowboys edged out the Seattle Seahawks 27-26 in their preseason finale, with defense taking center stage by forcing five turnovers. Now that exhibition season is over for the team, the players anxiously wait to see if they will be included in the 53-man roster.
Will Grier feels he deserves a spot
Quarterback Will Grier saw most of the action during the game against the Seahawks, although Cooper Rush played the opening series and Ben DiNucci also had his time on the field. Grier felt that he had given all he had to prove his worth, passing for 88 yards and two touchdowns after shaking off a slow start.
If Rush is once again chosen to be the team’s backup, Grier would end up having to go on waivers. He is hoping that his performance against Seattle is enough to convince the franchise to make him QB number two behind Dak Prescott.

Tyron Smith undergoes surgery
Left tackle Tyron Smith has undergone an operation to reattach a torn hamstring tendon to his left knee. He will now start the recovery and rehabilitation process that will keep him out for most of the regular season.
The Cowboys will reportedly keep him on the roster and later put him on the injured reserve list. This move would keep the door open for his return in the event that he recovers well enough to play later in the season. Dallas owner Jerry Jones is hopeful that Smith will be able to make it back in time for the playoffs.

The Cowboys had their eyes on him to become their future left tackle, and although he worked exclusively at left guard in a training camp contest, they are confident his university experience will carry him through in the event that they do use him as left tackle in the coming season.
