Dallas Cowboys’ DaRon Bland update: Foot surgery successful
The Dallas Cowboys were dealt a huge blow as All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland had to undergo surgery for a foot injury that will keep him out 6-8 weeks.

Just before the Dallas Cowboys played in their preseason finale against the Chargers on Saturday, the team announced some bad news - All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland suffered a stress fracture to his foot that would require surgery and keep him out for six to eight weeks, at least a month of the regular season.
That put the pressure on rookie Caelen Carson to step up in his place right away.

Bland successfully undergoes foot surgery
On Monday, Bland had the successful surgery on his foot, starting the clock on his timeline to return. At best, he could be back for Week 5 of the regular season when the Cowboys play the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road for Sunday Night Football.

As the Cowboys make the final cuts to the 53-man roster, Bland’s injury certainly has an impact. He looks to be one of two players who will be placed on Injured Reserve, which would rule him out for a minimum of four weeks. The new NFL rules allow for teams to place two players on IR before the 53-man roster is finalized with the opportunity to activate them during the season.
It’s a shame this injury happened when it did as Dallas just got All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs back from his ACL injury last year and there was a lot of excitement surrounding seeing these two play opposite each other. Bland and Diggs have only played together in 19 games, 17 of which came in Bland’s 2022 rookie season. Last year, Bland led the league in interceptions with nine and returned an NFL record five of those back for a touchdown.
