Update:

The Dallas Cowboys are never without drama, even in the offseason. Long out of the postseason, the Cowboys now shift focus to personal news.

Cowboys rookie defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku was arrested on Sunday in Plano, Texas, on charges of reckless driving. The 22-year-old posted the $500 bond and was released shortly after his arrest. The charges are classified as a Class B misdemeanor.

Ezeiruaku‘s rookie season with Dallas

Ezeiruaku, the Dallas Cowboys’ 2025 second-round pick (No. 44 overall), had a strong rookie season, appearing in 17 games and starting nine. He totaled 40 tackles, two sacks, nine tackles for loss, and one safety.

Before entering the NFL, Ezeiruaku had an outstanding college career at Boston College. Over 47 games, he recorded 215 tackles, 47 tackles for loss, 30 sacks, four pass defenses, and eight forced fumbles. He earned first-team All-ACC honors, was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and won the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end in 2024.

The Cowboys signed Ezeiruaku to a four-year, $10,144,808 contract, including a $4,018,041 signing bonus. He’s been praised as a leader in the Cowboys locker room and his agent, Andre Odom, attested to his character saying he’s a “great kid” and “will learn from this” incident.

Considering that the charges are non-violent and relatively minor, they are not likely to affect his future in the NFL.
