Dallas Cowboys to honor Marshawn Kneeland
Stephen Jones, executive vice-president of the Cowboys, has announced the franchise’s plans to pay tribute to Kneeland.

The Dallas Cowboys will pay tribute to Marshawn Kneeland, the 24-year-old defensive end who tragically passed away last week from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In the wake of his untimely death, the NFL franchise has announced several initiatives to honor his memory throughout the 2025 season.
“Working closely with his family”
Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ executive vice-president, told an interview on 105.3 The Fan that players will wear helmet decals and special T-shirts in Kneeland’s honor. During Week 10, NFL teams across the league observed a moment of silence to remember the young Dallas player.
“We’ve obviously been working closely with his family and his loved ones, and certainly working with his extended family,” Jones said. “Coach [Brian] Schottenheimer, with our team, working on how we want to do this and what’s in the best interest with the family, certainly first and foremost.”
In addition, the Cowboys will hold a moment of silence and show a video tribute during their next home game. Dallas is set to face the Philadelphia Eagles on November 23 at AT&T Stadium. According to The Athletic, Kneeland’s family and his girlfriend are expected to attend the game.

Jones reflects on Kneeland’s legacy
The Cowboys selected Kneeland in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and his impact was felt immediately. For Jones, the Western Michigan alum embodied everything the team values.
“He played with a high motor,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan. “He loved to get after it. Certainly, that jumped off the tape when we were scouting him. He just jumped off the tape in terms of how he hustled, how he played the game, his passion for the game.
“And he certainly was that way as a person. He played that way for us. We’re just going to miss him so much.”
