Daniel Jones has “a bright future” with the Colts despite injury
The Indianapolis Colts saw a promising start to 2025 collapse with a run of seven straight losses down the stretch.

For fans of the Indianapolis Colts, the 2025 NFL season was one of two halves.
The Colts began the year with a red-hot start, going 8-2 and staking a claim to be genuine postseason contenders. What followed was a run of seven straight losses as the team failed to make the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season.
What happened? As is often the case, quarterback injuries played a key role in the slump as both Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson fell to season-ending injuries. The resurrection of 44-year-old Philip Rivers did nothing to improve the team’s fortunes.
Colts general manager Chris Ballard said that he was “disappointed, without question” about the turn that the 2025 season took. However he insisted that there were positives to take from the year and reasons to be optimistic looking forward.

“It wasn’t all negative. The 8-2 [record] is real. That was not a mirage. It wasn’t,” Ballard said. “We were humming, and we were playing good football.”
Ballard was also at pains say that he retains faith in quarterback Daniel Jones, who went 8-5 in his 13 starts in 2025. He suffered a torn Achilles tendon in early December but should be back to full fitness in time for the 2026 season.
“When you’re chasing the quarterback all the time, it makes it very hard. Your margin for error really shrinks down. And I feel very good about Daniel Jones and where he’s at, where he’s going. Yes, he’s got the Achilles. But I think Daniel Jones has got a really bright future here in Indianapolis.”
