Denver Broncos’ quarterback Russell Wilson is accepting offers for his home. Will the team release him?

The Broncos’ QB could soon be on his way out the door which is understandable following the campaign that he and the team recently had to endure.

After a less-than-ideal season in Denver, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback may soon find himself on the market, something he seems to know as evidenced by the fact that he’s reportedly put his house up for sale.

Russell Wilson puts house up for sale with ‘release’ talk floating

While there has been no official indication that the Denver Broncos are about to part ways with their starting quarterback, it certainly appears to be the case. Indeed, the situation has been given further weight by the fact that reports have indicated that Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara are currently accepting offers for their Denver-based mansion. Purchased for $25 million shortly after he was traded in 2022 by the Seattle Seahawks, the Cherry Hills Village home is now open for tours by prospective buyers.

Where Wilson’s immediate future is concerned, it’s got to be said that talk of his release is nothing new. Quite frankly, since he was benched during the Broncos’ final stretch of games, it’s been a constant topic of conversation. It’s worth noting that the 35-year-old quarterback was not exactly terrible this past season, as he registered a 66.4% completion rate - his highest since 2020 - while posting 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions. When questioned about the decision to bench Wilson, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that it was a choice based on trying to win games. To be clear, the Broncos at that time were still in with a shot at making the playoffs despite the fact that they were fresh off of two straight losses against the Lions and Patriots. The team would go on to win its first game with Wilson out, however, they fell to the Raiders on the road to end the season with an 8-9 record.

How did Russell Wilson respond?

Quite well to be honest. Following his removal from the starting lineup, Wilson made it clear that his desire was to continue his career in Denver. On the other hand, Payton did seem to imply that the team had not made a firm decision on its quarterback, which must be said is interesting when considering the fact that he is two years into a mammoth five-year, $242.59 million contract that includes a potential out after the 2025 season. Again, there has been no official word, but with his house now on the market, Russell Wilson is surely considering the idea that he won’t be in Denver when the next season gets underway. As for where he will be, that’s anyone’s guess. So, as we like to say, ‘Watch this space.’
