Did Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud just start a war with Aaron Rodgers?

The Texans QB didn’t go easy when asked about Aaron Rodgers which leaves us wondering if/when the 4-time MVP will respond and is this the start of a beef?

It may just be that the Texans and Jets are going to have extra heat between them when they meet this season. Following a series of less-than-kind comments from Houston’s signal caller about his counterpart, we can only expect that it’s going to be a bumpy ride from here on out.

C.J. Stroud told us how he really feels about Aaron Rodgers

If you had a chance to catch C.J. Stroud’s recent interview on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, it’s quite likely that the Texans quarterback surprised you with what he said. Indeed, on multiple occasions Stroud weighed on fellow quarterback and New York Jets player Aaron Rodgers and it was clear that he doesn’t hold the former Green Bay Packers legend in high regard. Asked whether he would prefer the career of Rodgers or Eli Manning, he began with a frank answer. “You want the rings, Eli got two,” Stroud said.

Now, to be fair, one can’t blame Stroud for wanting to win titles. On the other hand, if we look at Manning’s career, it’s true that he won two Super Bowls as opposed to Rodgers who has just one championship, but in the 16 years that he played he went 117-117. Rodgers by comparison is a four-time MVP and still playing. Of course, that’s where Stroud doubled down, insinuating that Rodgers’ lack of titles is due to the fact that he is difficult to play with. “You know what I think it is? I’ve talked to Tom Brady about this because he’s a good mentor to me,” Stroud said. “What he told me is his teammates, and how he treats his teammates. And that’s where I think it falls off for Rodgers. We don’t know how Aaron Rodgers treats his teammates, but you can guarantee that Tom Brady treats his teammates right because how he got those rings.”

It didn’t stop there either as the 22-year-old went on to declare that should a player such as Matthew Stafford be given the same resources as Rodgers to work with, he would have done much better in his career. “If you give Matthew Stafford a chance like Aaron Rodgers had, I guarantee you he might have had more rings,” Stroud said. “I’d say he would have like three or four [rings].” For perspective, Stroud is a self-proclaimed fan of Stafford’s which is to say his comparison could be taken with a pinch of salt. “I’m a student of the game and that’s all I watch, I watch nobody else,” Stroud said of Stafford. “I watch [Patrick] Mahomes at times, because Mahomes does stuff I like, but you can’t coach [that]. Stafford, though, he’ll beat you with the same thing every time. ... I’m a fan of his.” Ultimately, it’s clear that the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year has no love for Rodgers which brings to the crux of the matter i.e., the ‘Thursday Night Football’ meeting between the Jets and Texans will be played on Halloween night this year and it’s going to be lit.
