DK Metcalf punishment revealed after Steelers star’s ‘unnecessary physical contact’ with fan
A sideline incident overshadowed a key Steelers win, with discipline looming and an appeal expected within hours.

The NFL has suspended DK Metcalf, the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, for two games following an altercation with a fan in the stands during the game against the Detroit Lions. The team is expected to appeal the suspension in the coming hours.

In a statement, the league said “Metcalf’s actions violated league policy, which specifies that players may not enter the stands or confront fans at any point on game day and that any unnecessary physical contact with a fan constituting unsportsmanlike conduct or posing crowd-control or injury risks will result in discipline.”
The fan involved has denied allegations that racist insults were used before the player approached him, while Metcalf has not made any public statement since the incident.

The two-game suspension would cost Metcalf $277,778 per game – a total of $555,556 across both contests.
On the field, Metcalf finished with four receptions for 42 yards and played a role in Pittsburgh’s 29–24 win over Detroit, a result that kept the Steelers atop the AFC North and one victory away from clinching the division title.

Looking ahead, Pittsburgh will visit Huntington Bank Field to face the Cleveland Browns next week, before closing the regular season in Week 18 at Acrisure Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens.
