Does Bill Belichick have a new job?
The former Patriots coach may not have a team to manage, but he does have a job. Indeed, the 6-time Super Bowl winner will be at the upcoming NFL Draft.
While his lack of employment continues to puzzle, it appears the legendary coach has still found a way to keep himself relevant. With reports suggesting a less-than-kind review from former employer and Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, could it be that Bill Belichick has a future in front of a camera?
Bill Belichick to join the ‘Pat McAfee Show’
It may not be the job he was hoping for, but former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has got himself a new gig albeit temporarily. According to reports, the 72-year-old will be co-hosting a live event with the “Pat McAfee Show” at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. McAfee himself announced Belichick’s move during Wednesday’s episode of his show. Entitled “The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular,” the show will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on April 25th and is set to be streamed by YouTube, TikTok, and ESPN+. Described as a non-traditional broadcast, the special will feature “a wide range of personalities and analysts to break down picks while also emphasizing the Draft experience from a fan perspective.”
Regarding details, there has been no further word on who else might be involved, but we do know now that McAfee and Belichick had this in the works. “Coach, I just announced to the world something that we’ve been chatting about for like the last month and half or so,” McAfee told Belichick during the episode. “So incredibly pumped and thankful that you’ll be joining us next Thursday night in Detroit for the countdown and for the draft.” Naturally, Belichick responded in kind. “I’m looking forward to it,” Belichick said. “Draft day, draft weekend, it’s always an exciting time for everybody, for the teams, for the fans, for everybody involved in it. It’s a great event, and I’m looking forward to seeing it from the outside. It’ll be fun to be in Detroit, to be with you guys, and get your expertise.”
News of Belichick’s comes in the wake of reports that Patriots owner Robert Kraft gave a scathing review of him when speaking with Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta Falcons. Being that the Falcons were the one team that appeared to be seriously interested in Belichick, that doesn’t look good. Yet, it may that he has another path before him, at least, for the time being. With reports indicating that he is set to sign a deal as an analyst with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, we will probably be seeing a lot more of Bill Belichick soon enough. Especially now that ESPN has renewed it’s contract with it’s popular ‘Monday Night Football’ show, the ‘Manningcast’.
