It remains to be seen whether the prolific wide receiver will face any form of punishment from the league, however, if reports prove to be true it’s highly likely that any sanction that comes from the league will be the least of his problems.

Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill under investigation for potential assault

According to comments from Miami-Dade police, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is now under investigation for an alleged assault and battery which took place on Sunday. As per reports, the incident is said to have occurred at Haulover Park, a Miami beachfront area. Incidentally, the first reports about the situation came after a tip from an alleged witness who claimed that Hill had a “disagreement” with a charter company employee at the stated location, before hitting him. The Dolphins have since released a statement in which they acknowledged the event. “We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Tyreek, his representatives and the NFL,” the Dolphins said. “We will reserve further comment at this time.”

If you’re wondering, Hill is about to go into his second season with the Dolphins after a league-rocking trade sent him from the Kansas City Chiefs to Miami last offseason. To his credit, the hype surrounding his move was justified in that Hill caught a career-high 119 passes off of 170 targets with a total of 1,710 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. For his efforts, he was named to the All-Pro first team.

This isn’t the first time Tyreek Hill has been in trouble

Unfortunately, it’s true. Hill came to the Dolphins with somewhat of a problematic history and it involved violence to boot. Back in 2014, he pleaded guilty to a domestic assault charge after punching and choking his then-20-year-old pregnant girlfriend. Then, there was the 2019 campaign during which he was suspended from team activities and subsequently investigated by child services after a recorded conversation between him and his fiancée was released. In the recording, Hill can be her telling her that she and his child should be afraid of him. Indeed, his fiancée would later claim that the child said: “Daddy punches me.” Ultimately, he faced no criminal charges nor sanction from the NFL for the incident. On that note, it’s worth noting that where this most recent situation is concerned, there has been no official word on whether Hill will face any charges, discipline from his team, or the league itself.
