Update:

Chicago Bears defensive back Douglas Coleman III was hospitalized after suffering what looked to be a serious injury during his team’s NFL preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night.

What happened to Douglas Coleman III against the Chiefs?

In the first play from scrimmage in the second half, Coleman tackled the Chiefs’ Cornell Powell near the sideline but failed to get back up, or indeed move, after the two players collided.

Play immediately stopped, with players from both teams rushing to check on the 26-year-old, who joined the Bears from the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Redblacks in January.

Medial personnel carefully lifted Coleman onto a stablizing board and then a stretcher before removing his facemask, but not his helmet.

The player was then transported to a local hospital in a Kansas City Fire Department ambulance.

Updates on Douglas Coleman’s condition

After the match, which the Bears won 34-21, Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus revealed Coleman, who was seen giving a thumbs up before being moved off the field, did have “movement in his limbs”. No further news have been given on Coleman’s condition since he was taken to hospital. We will update this post as soon as more information is available.
