Update:

After a 28-16 win over the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots are now just two victories away from a record seventh Super Bowl triumph.

The Patriots have been a resurgent force this season and look primed to challenge for another championship. Seven years on from the team’s most recent postseason win, New England has a taste for success once again.

This year’s team is led by Drake Maye, the 23-year-old QB in his second season in the NFL. If he can lead the team to a championship he would rank among the youngest quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl as starter.

How old was Tom Brady when he won his first Super Bowl?

Back in the 2001 season, a young Tom Brady was the second-year quarterback leading the Patriots for a playoff run. Brady, who was the 199th pick of the previous year’s draft, shook off a knee injury to take on the St. Louis Rams at Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans.

Brady threw for 145 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions as the Patriots clinched a 20-17 win over the Rams. Aged 24 years and 6 months, Brady became the youngest starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.

In the following two decades, Brady’s record has been beaten by Ben Roethlisberger and Patrick Mahomes. But Maye can still surpass Brady’s previous record if the Patriots are victorious this season. Maye will be 23 years and five months for Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8.
