Update:

At just a quarter and a half into Super Bowl LX, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had already been sacked three times.

That was only half of the total amount he’d end up with by the time the clock wound down to zero.

What is the record for most sacks in a single NFL postseason?

Maye endured a relentless postseason, entering Super Bowl LX with 15 sacks and adding six more in the big game to reach 21 total this playoff run.

With that, Maye has broken Joe Burrow’s previous record for 19 sacks in the 2021 Bengals postseason, the most any quarterback had taken in a single playoff run until now.

Maye’s postseason journey was a punishing test of pocket awareness and resilience. Over three playoff games leading to the Super Bowl, he was sacked repeatedly, including five times per game, and now six more times in Super Bowl LX. This places him at the top tier of quarterbacks enduring heavy playoff pressure.

Burrow’s 2021 postseason saw him take 19 sacks over four games, including Super Bowl LVI. Despite the hits, Burrow led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance, similar to Maye guiding New England through a gauntlet of tough defenses. In the end, like the Burrow and the Bengals, Maye and the Patriots ultimately lost the Super Bowl, with the Pats falling 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks.
