Drake Maye’s family is loaded with athletic talent: Here’s the full lineup of athletes who came before him
As he prepares to lead the New England Patriots into a Super Bowl, Maye with have his football-playing family watching on.


If Drake Maye leads the New England Patriots to a seventh championship triumph at Super Bowl LX this weekend, he will be crowned as the heir to the great Tom Brady.
But you can be sure that Maye will not get carried away from the success of this breakthrough year, his second season in the NFL. He is the youngest of four siblings - all of whom have impressive sporting stories of their own - and they will make sure he keeps his feet on the ground.

Speaking at the 2024 NFL Draft, was he was selected by the Patriots, Maye paid tribute to his siblings in the audience. He said: “I got my three older brothers, got three of my best friends.”
Drake Maye’s sporting family
Before being drafted Drake Maye starred in college football with the North Carolina Tar Heels, representing his home state. The Tar Heels were also the team of his father - Mark Maye - who played for the school’s football team from 1983 to 1988.
Drake clearly follows in his footsteps and in the footsteps of his three older brothers, each of whom has played college sports. The oldest, Luke Maye, played basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2015 to 2019, notably playing in the 2017 national championship-winning team. The second brother, Cole Maye, played baseball for the Florida Gators and won an NCAA baseball title with the team. Finally, Beau Maye is another alumni of the Tar Heels basketball team, playing in the 2022/23 season.
“I think my hero would be my probably my older brothers,” Maye said, speaking at the Super Bowl media day this week. “I think my heroes, just leaving up, you know, growing up with them, having somebody, you know, that’s that close to me, you know, kind of live their own lives and me just learn from them.”
“They all had a passion,” he continued. “I was just trying to find a passion for myself that I could kind of, you know, follow them and it happened to be football and now I’m here.”
