Eagles 13-33 Cowboys, summary: score, stats, highlights | NFL Week 14

Eagles @ Cowboys LIVE

Cowboys keep NFC East title hopes alive

The Eagles had a chance to clinch their spot in the playoffs tonight with just a win over the Cowboys. Instead, they fell 33-13 and the Cowboys keep their hopes of winning the NFC East alive.

Cowboys' home streak and dominant victory

The Cowboys won for the 15th consecutive game at their home stadium. They dominate there, and tonight's game was no different. The defense held the Eagles to zero touchdowns and just two field goals. Philadelphia's only touchdown came from defensive back Jalen Carter on a fumble recovery.

With this win, the Cowboys have now scored 30+ points in eight straight home games, the 3rd-longest streak in NFL history.

Dak Prescott finished 24-of-39 for 271 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. It was a career-best seventh consecutive game with at least two touchdown passes. Dallas scored on all four of their first-half possessions, including three touchdowns -two passing TDs by WRs CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, and one rushing TD by RB Rico Dowdle. Brandon Aubrey made four field goals and became the first kicker in NFL history to hit two field goals of more than 59 yards in one game.

Eagles offense unimpressive

Jalen Hurts finished 18 of 27 for 197 yards and no touchdowns. The Philly offense failed to score a single touchdown, and had three fumbles (Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith), and all three resulted in a turnover. It was their most turnovers in a game since Week 6.

Jake Elliott gave the Eagles two field goals and their one touchdown came from Carter after the fumble on Dallas. Running backs De'Andre Swift, Kenneth Gainwell, and Boston Scott combined for 18 carries for 77 yards and the receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith had a combined 14 catches for 167 yards and the costly fumbles.

What now?

With this result, the Cowboys hold the head-to-head tiebreaker since they have an NFC East win over the Eagles. However, the Eagles would take the NFC East title if they win out on their final four games. They have the easiest schedule in the whole league to finish the season.

The Eagles will face the Seahawks in Seattle on Monday, December 18.

The Cowboys will face the Buffalo Bills on the road on Sunday, December 17.

Waiting all day...

for Sunday Night!

Here we goooo, Eagles have won the toss and elected to defer. Cowboys start us off on offense. Game time.

Jennifer Bubel

The intensity is always high, the emotions high, everyone wants to win. It's a brawl. It's always one where you got to get the ice bags ready."

Micah Parsons, Cowboys linebacker

"HERE WE GOOO!"

If you've been watching the Cowboys this season, then by now, quarterback Dak Prescott's "Here we go" cadence is probably stuck in your head like a pop song.

Before each play, Prescott yells "Here we go!" which is then typically followed by "White 80 set!"

The reason for the call was for the Cowboys offense to have better communication. Prescott said last week that the cadence was a way for them to all be on the same page, "using the cadence to our advantage".

“The linemen wanted a little something before. For me, really, it’s to tell them, stop the communicating, here we go,” said Prescott

"Here We Go", the song

The cadence has gotten so much attention now that it's actually become a song. Preston Wayne and 13lackbeard (feat. Prescott of course) have made it into somewhat of a Cowboys anthem.

“I personally was tired of playing ‘We Dem Boyz’ because Wiz Khalifa is not even from Dallas,” said 13lackbeard. “I wanted something that was going to be original that the fans would love and that could carry over to the radio in the same light of how ‘We Dem Boyz’ was. When I heard ‘Here we go’ and how the cadence came out, I immediately messaged Dak.”

Prescott called it "fire" and the Cowboys posted it to their social media days later. Wayne and 13lackbeard are performing at the west plaza of AT&T Stadium ahead of the game tonight.

Cowboys are favorites to win

The last time these NFC East rivals met on November 5, the Eagles won at home by just 5 points, 28-23. The Cowboys have not lost a game since then.

The Eagles are coming off of a blowout home loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week, 42-19. That gives the Cowboys at least a chance to take the top seed in the NFC if they win tonight. After last week’s loss, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has a 19-10 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and the Niners limited him to just 57% completion rate and one passing touchdown.

The Cowboys defense is allowing just 15.8 points per game on average at AT&T Stadium, with Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland leading the stats. QB Dak Prescott has a 26-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 13 of those touchdowns came in the last four games. In the last five home games, the Cowboys have scored at least 38 points. The Cowboys are on a roll and they are not looking to slow down tonight.

Not to mention, the Cowboys are on a 14-game home win streak with their last home loss coming in the 2022 season opener to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Eagles defense showing weakness

After last week’s loss to the 49ers, the Eagles have shown their weaknesses on defense. They gave up 42 to the Niners and are averaging 29 points and 435 yards allowed per game.

The Cowboys are averaging an NFL-high of 32.3 points per game and 34.1 at home. They have the top-ranked scoring offense. The Eagles have the 24th-ranked scoring defense. Not only is Prescott on a streak, playing some of his best football of his career, but the rest of the offense has been on a roll too. Running back Tony Pollard is on track for 1,400 scrimmage yards and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has 90 catches for 1,200 yards. Lamb and Brandin Cooks have combined for 1,679 yards and 12 touchdowns. And tight end Jake Ferguson has five touchdowns.

The Eagles have not beaten the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in five straight games and they haven’t swept them in a season since 2011.

Jennifer Bubel

Eagles could clinch playoff spot tonight

If the Eagles beat the Cowboys tonight, they could clinch their spot in the playoffs.

I don’t think anyone expects the Eagles not to go to the playoffs at this point. At 10-2, they are the top team in the NFC. Of course, it’s possible, but it’s quite unlikely.

If you missed it, the Baltimore Ravens beat the Los Angeles Rams in a thrilling overtime game earlier today, which was great news for Philly. Now, a win over the Cowboys is the only thing they need to get that playoff spot guaranteed.

Can the Cowboys clinch their playoff spot with a win over the Eagles?

The Cowboys, on the other hand, cannot clinch their spot in the playoffs, even if they beat the Eagles tonight. Since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints both won their games this week, the Cowboys will have to wait until next week to officially secure a spot. Even still, it’s also unlikely they miss the playoffs this season either.

Dallas is just one game behind the Eagles at 9-3, but if the Eagles win, they’ll be two games up and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. If the Cowboys win, however, they would win the tie-breaker as they actually hold the better divisional record. Despite that, the Eagles would win the division crown if both teams won out and tied at the end of the season due to their better conference record.
