Eagles - Jets odds and predictions: Who is the favorite in the NFL week 6 game?
With kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, we’ve got an early take on the odds and predictions for this Week 6 clash.
Though their record isn’t the best, the Jets come into this one fresh off of a huge morale-boosting win against the Denver Broncos, while the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to extend what has been a perfect run on the season so far.
Eagles vs Jets: The lay of the land
At present, the Philadelphia Eagles are one of only two teams - the San Francisco 49ers are the other - to remain undefeated in the 2023-24 season. Truth be told, it’s highly likely that will still be the case after they go on the road to face the New York Jets, who are currently sitting on a 2-3 record following that above-mentioned road win in Denver. Where the head-to-head is concerned, the Eagles won the most recent game between the teams which was back in 2021 and ended 33-18. Quite frankly, the Jets have never beaten the Eagles as evidenced by their 0-12 lifetime record against them.
Jalen Hurts is performing but so is the Eagles’ defense
Witnessing the way in which the Eagles conceded 31 points to the Washington Commanders in Week 4, it was clear to see that some things needed to be addressed in defense. Against the Los Angeles Rams last week, however, it was clear to see that they had been and that’s even with the return of the Rams’ star wide receiver, Cooper Kupp. not only was quarterback Matthew Stafford sacked four times, but the Rams were held to a total of 249 yards of offense. It would be reasonable to assume that we will see more of the same this week given the inexperience of the Jets’ quarterback, Zach Wilson, a player who has already thrown five interceptions and been sacked on 14 occasions for the campaign so far.
This brings us to the other side of the coin, the offense. For the second straight week, Jalen Hurts threw more than 300 passing yards as he completed 25 of 38 passes for 303 yards with a touchdown and one interception. On top of that, Hurts also added 15 rushing attempts for 72 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Yes, Devonta Smith only caught one pass, but Hurts’ other two targets produced more than 100 yards each with A.J. Brown posting 127 yards on 6 targets with no scores, and Dallas Goedert receiving 8 targets to the tune of 117 yards and one touchdown. The Jets are better at defending the passing game than the Rams, but expect more of the same from the Eagles in New York.
Breece Hall is key for the Jets
As mentioned above, New York’s win in Denver was a big one. Given all that had been said between the two teams in the buildup to the game, the Nathaniel Hackett revenge mission ended in the Jets’ favor not because they were necessarily superior to the Broncos, but simply because Sean Payton’s men couldn’t cope with New York’s second-year running back, Breece Hall. Indeed, Hall put 177 yards on the board along with one touchdown on 22 carries, a fact made even more impressive by the notion that he recently returned from ACL surgery and had only registered 32 carries across the first four weeks of the season.
This is to say Hall will be critical to their cause both on Sunday and going forward. Aside from their impressive running back, a mention should be made of kicker Greg Zuerlein who scored five field goals at Mile High Stadium. Along with the team’s defense and special teams, those three facets will also be key in securing any kind of upset on Sunday afternoon. The rest as they say is up to fate.

Eagles vs Jets: The prediction
Though it would be accurate to say that the Jets have continued to improve despite the tragilossst of Aaron Rodgers in their season opener, it would also be fair to say that the Eagles are firing on all cylinders at the moment. Between Jalen Hurts’ continued excellence and Zach Wilson’s shakiness, we can’t see this one ending any other way than a win on the road for Philly. The Eagles have led at the half in every game they’ve played so far except one. Expect them to do so on Sunday afternoon and not look back.
