Eagles restructure and clean out the locker room: Bryce Huff would be next key casualty
Just one year after signing a massive $51 million deal, the defensive star could be leaving Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Eagles are pushing to reshape the squad this offseason, looking to strengthen a team that clinched the Super Bowl last season.
One of the biggest exits looks set to be Bryce Huff, the defensive end signed from the New York Giants last year. He is reportedly close to a deal to join the San Francisco 49ers.
Huff was coming off a very impressive 2023 with the Giants when the Eagles handed him a three-year deal worth $51 million just 12 months ago.
But the move to Philadelphia has not gone to plan and Huff started just six games with the Eagles, registering a total of 2.5 sacks. He suffered with niggling injuries for much of the season and made only 12 total appearances.
With the Eagles looking to move him on, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the San Francisco 49ers are willing to give up a mid-round pick at the 2026 NFL Draft to close a deal. That would reunite him with new 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who brought the best out of Huff during their time together with the Giants.
The move to San Francisco does require some contractual changes and Huff had reportedly reworked his current deal.
Last week Huff was absent from the Eagles OTAs, suggesting that he may be leaving the team. The OTAs are technically voluntary but any hopes of Huff looking to kick-start his career in Philadelphia went unrealized.
The expected departure of Huff will further the speed of change in the Eagles’ defensive unit this offseason. The team had already lost Brandon Graham to retirement and Josh Sweat in free agency, leaving the front office with some holes to fill before the start of the 2025 NFL season.
