Update:

Ahead of their 2025 season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys have been rocked by the departure of star linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

The NFL community was stunned as the Packers signed Parsons to a four-year, $188 million contract with $120 million fully guaranteed. The deal gives him an average annual salary of $47 million, the highest ever for a non-quarterback in league history.

Cowboys claim former Eagles guard

The Cowboys have, however, also looked to strengthen their roster ahead of their Week 1 clash with Philadelphia, which kicks off Thursday, September 4, at 8:20 p.m. ET.

One of their latest additions is a familiar face for the Eagles: guard Trevor Keegan. Dallas claimed Keegan off waivers to add depth to its offensive line. The former Michigan standout was a fifth-round pick by the Eagles last year and had been included on their initial 53-man roster for the 2025 season.

That changed when Philadelphia waived the 24-year-old on Wednesday. The Cowboys put in a claim the following day, adding him to their roster. Keegan appeared in one game for the Eagles in 2024 and saw offseason reps at both center and guard, though he did not stand out.

Eagles reunion comes sooner than expected

Even so, Philadelphia Inquirer NFL writer Devin Jackson described Keegan as a “physical, smart player” who provided “pretty good value to the Eagles.”

Keegan may well see action when Dallas faces Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field next week, although he will now be lining up against the team he expected to represent just days ago.
