Eli Apple, injured in the Dolphins’ defeat to the Chiefs
The Dolphins cornerback injured his leg in the middle of the Wild Card matchup between Miami and Kansas City.
The Wild Card weekend didn’t go as the Dolphins had planned. Kansas City and the cold weather proved too strong for Mike McDaniel’s side at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Dolphins were defeated by Patrick Mahomes & co. in a game where the visitors seemed to have no answers to the current champions’ offense.
The Dolphins ended the term with three straight defeats, all to teams that made the playoffs. Moreover, throughout the season, they were 1-6 against playoff teams. Only the Washington Commanders had a worse record against sides that made the postseason.
With their victory, Kansas City advance to the divisional round, where they will face either the Buffalo Bills or the Houston Texans.
More bad news for the Dolphins
Although it was a tough night for Miami, things can always get worse, and that’s what happened in Kansas City.
The team lost Eli Apple during the game due to a leg injury, which forced him to leave the pitch and be checked by the medical staff.
After being taken to the blue medical tent, the team officially ruled Apple questionable to return with a foot injury. Ethan Bonner filled in for him.
There have been no further official communications from the Dolphins regarding Apple’s leg issue.
Miami, who saw how its season ended in the first round of the postseason for the second consecutive campaign, extended the franchise’s playoff win drought to 23 seasons.
