The Cincinnati Bengals played excellent defense against Tom Brady to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-23 in Week 15 of the 2022 NFL season. The Bengals currently stand at 10-4, leading the AFC North.

The result makes this the first regular season in which Brady has lost eight games in his entire 23-year career. The Buccaneers will need to win all the team’s remaining games to prevent the quarterback from having a losing season for the first time.

Here are the five keys to the Bengals' victory over the Bucs.

Joe Burrow

Although Burrow started the game with an interception, the young quarterback eventually found his stride and threw four touchdown passes after completing 27 of 39 throws for 200 yards. Additionally, he became the first Bengals quarterback to record consecutive seasons with 30 or more touchdown passes.

Interceptions

Brady (30/44, 313 yards, 3 TDs) committed four turnovers in the loss against the Bengals. In the third quarter, the QB looked for Cameron Brate on a short trajectory, but Tre Flowers got in the path of the ball and intercepted it. Later, TB12 went after Mike Evans with a short spiral, but Germaine Pratt got hold of the ball.

Fumbles

Logan Wilson caused a strip sack during the third quarter by sacking Brady. The ball was recovered by Joseph Ossai. Subsequently, Brady was unable to catch the cross and D.J. Reader recovered the ball at the Tampa Bay 39-yard line.

Turnover on downs

Early in the second half, the Buccaneers attempted a fake punt with a direct snap to Giovani Bernard, but the running back looked taken aback as he caught the ball in the chest. The Tampa Bay player managed to recover it, but the team committed a turnover on downs.

17 or more points

Coming back from a 17-point deficit, the Bengals joined the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars as teams to come out on top after being that much behind. This marked the first week in NFL history that three teams won after overcoming such a big lead.
