Former Ravens and Seahawks safety Earl Thomas issued with arrest warrant
With a complicated and violent history between him and his wife, there seems to be no solution without the law being involved.
The former Seattle Seahawks player has found himself on the wrong side of the law, leaving the question ‘what happens next?’
Arrest warrant issued for former Seattle Seahawk Earl Thomas
According to reports an arrest warrant has been issued by a judge in Austin, Texas for former All-Pro safety Earl Thomas. Having apparently violated a court protective order by sending threatening messages to a woman about her and her children. Thomas is now wanted by police. As per court records, the warrant was actually signed on April 27th and charges Thomas with a third-degree felony that alleges he violated the protective order on more than two occasions during a 12 month period. At the time of writing Thomas had not made himself available to authorities.
Where Thomas’ legal representation is concerned, Trey Dolezal who is both lawyer and sports agent for Thomas and is also overseeing the player’s divorce, explained that the warrant come as a result of Thomas having communicated to his wife a desire to see their children. Dolezal went on to disclose that he had in fact made Thomas aware of the arrest warrant. “They were consciously and collectively working together to see his kids,” Dolezal said. “I don’t really understand how he could be in violation by working together to visit with his children.”
What is Earl Thomas accused of doing?
Where the protective order is concerned, it is understood that Thomas was permitted to communicate with the woman in question - his wife - via a co-parenting phone application. As per reports, the woman in question told police that Thomas declined to download the app and was instead communicating directly by phone as well as arriving at her residence unannounced. The scenario seemingly escalated in recent days with Thomas allegedly beginning to send threatening text messages to the woman about her and her children. According to police, Thomas sent a text to the woman on April 18th telling her that he obtained two handguns. The message was allegedly followed by a second text where he stated, “Waiting on hand in foot is why I’ll kick ur ass.”
Sadly, the scenario doesn’t end there. Indeed, on the very next day it is understood that Thomas once again reached out to his wife via text message saying, “I hope u in the car with him and the kids and yall drive off the road.” and “Ima let my momma and my cousins poison they ass.” to be clear Thomas is threatening his own children in this scenario. It should also be noted that Nina Thomas who is Earl Thomas’ wife filed for divorce back in November 2020. Her move came shortly before being arrested by police for pointing a loaded gun at her husband’s head, having broken into a vacation home where she found him with another woman.
Who is former Seattle Seahawks’ Earl Thomas?
When he entered the NFL back in 2010, Thomas was actually a first-round draft choice for the Seattle Seahawks. The safety would go on to spend nine years with the franchise before joining the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. Unfortunately, Thomas’ time with the Ravens was short lived. In August of 2020, Thomas was involved in a conflict with fellow Ravens safety Chuck Clark and as a result was finally cut by the team after he punched Clark during a practice session. Interestingly, Thomas recently stated he would like to return to the NFL after spending two years outside of the league.
