Former star takes aim at Dallas Cowboys with Super Bowl barb
DeMarcus Lawrence has signed a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks and had some strong words for his former team.

The news that defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is leaving the team will not have gone down well with fans of the Dallas Cowboys. However some controversial comments made upon his signing with the Seattle Seahawks may have soured things further.
Lawrence had spent 11 years with the Cowboys and was named to the Pro Bowl four times, most recently in 2023. But he has opted for a move away from Dallas ahead of the 2025 season, signing a three-year, $32.5 million deal with the Seahawks this week.
Lawrence was a consistent performer during his time with the Cowboys but appears to have left all that behind now. Soon after arriving in Seattle, he took aim at his former team while speaking to reporters.
What did DeMarcus Lawrence say about the Cowboys?
The Dallas Cowboys' wait for a sixth NFL championship reaches 30 years this season and the draught has been a major cause of frustration for such a storied franchise. Speaking to Seahawks blogger Brian Nemhauser, DeMarcus Lawrence revealed that’s he’s not expecting it to change anytime soon.
“A change in scenery is always good, but Dallas is my home. I made my home there, my family lives there, I’m forever going to be there. But I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there, so yeah. We here.”
He continued: “Just thinking and wanting a Super Bowl, it doesn’t all come together if all the pieces ain’t there. For me to have another opportunity to go and chase my dream to win a Super Bowl with a good team and the pieces are in place, I had to take my opportunity.”
Those pointed comments were swiftly leapt upon by his former teammates and fellow pass rusher Micah Parsons issued a response on Thursday, writing on social media: “This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown s**t”
The online spat continued with Lawrence replying: “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”
Strong words from both sides as two former teammates go head-to-head online. Parsons has been with the Cowboys since being drafted in 2021 and had played his entire professional career alongside Lawrence in the defensive line. It remains to be seen if Lawrence’s bold decision will be proved correct.
