From F to first class: Commanders debut revamped locker room

Last year, the Washington Commanders earned an “F” from the NFLPA for their outdated facilities. Since then, the owners have been committed to revamping the locker rooms and improving both the players’ experience and team culture.

The Commanders unveiled the state-of-the-art locker room at their OrthoVirginia Training Center and when the players arrived, they were in awe, praising the luxurious, player-focused design.

“It’s like the Four Seasons up in here! This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy,” safety Will Harris said.

The locker rooms feature personal storage, in-locker dryers, cushioned seats, and expanded amenities like a new sauna and sound system.

The facilities in general were in desperate need of a renovation, with the NFLPA’s report card stating that players were complaining about sewage leaks in the “small” locker room.

“When asked what the number one issue respondents want to prioritize for fixing, most players couldn’t come up with just one. Instead, the common answer was the entire facility.”

The new owners heard their complaints and they delivered. General manager Adam Peters noted upgrades across the facility, including new meeting rooms, recovery areas, and a nutrition center.
