Cowboys defeat Giants in OT
Brandon Aubrey wins it for Dallas (40-37) in tense OT vs Giants
Well, no one expected last week's Cowboys-Eagles game to be as close as it was, because we thought the Cowboys would get crushed. No one expected the Cowboys-Giants game to be this close this we k either, because we thought the Giants would get crushed. Boy, were we wrong AGAIN.
At first, neither offense could get much going. The Giants were able to get a couple field goals, but they didn't get their first touchdown until near the end of the second quarter. The Cowboys answered with one of their own before the half, but in general, the first half was filled with mostly penalties and not a lot of action.
The second half was a different story. The Cowboys took the lead for the first time, but not for long. From there, it was back and forth until the bitter end. The final minute of the game was the most exciting as there were three scores in as much time.
Just before the two-minute warning, the Giants took a 30-27 lead on a 4th-down play - a 32-yard pass from Wilson to Robinson. Then, with under a minute, Prescott passed to Pickens in for a touchdown. The Giants responded with a 48-yard TD pass from Wilson to Nabers with just 25 seconds left. The Cowboys then got within field goal range with just 4 seconds on the clock. Keep in mind, Brandon Aubrey's FG range is abouot 70 yards. He made it from 64 and made it look easy, sending the game into overtime.
The OT was just as thrilling, as the Giants started on offense. The Giants ended up having three tries on offense, and the Cowboys had four, in just 10 minutes of OT. In the end, it was Aubrey who made the 46-yard field goal to win the game.
HIGHLIGHTS AND STATS
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott ended the game 38-of-52 for 361 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception. RB JavonteWilliams led in rushing with 18 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown. MilesSanders added 5 carries for 15 yards and a touchdown of his own. As for passing, CeeDeeLamb led in yardage (112), but KaVontaeTurpin and GeorgePickens had the scores. Kicker BrandonAubrey, of course, made all four of his FG attempts, including the 64-yarder to send the game to OT and the 46-yarder to win it.
Giants QB RussellWilson looked like his old self again - nothing like Week 1 when they faced Washington. He ended the game going 30-of-41 for 450 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 interception. The problem is that INT was in OT at the worst moment (to Donovan Wilson). RB CamSkattebo had himself a night, leading the team in rushing with 11 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown. MalikNabers was Wilson's favorite target. He led in receptions with 9 for 167 yards and 2 TDs. Wan'DaleRobinson added another TD to the day. GrahamGano made all three of his FG attempts.
What's next?
The Cowboys will face the Chicago Bears next Sunday on the road, while the Giants will host the Kansas City Chiefs for SNF.

Giants QB Russell Wilson and Cowboys' new head coach Brian Schottenheimer will reunite for the first time since 2020, when Schotty left Seattle as the Seahawks' playcaller. He was Wilson's OC there for three seasons.
Schottenheimer says he is still close with Wilson and is looking forward to seeing him on the field.
“One of the greatest deep-ball throwers I’ve ever been around,” Schottenheimer said. “The ability to extend plays when I was with him was a great quality. ... If you can’t move around and make plays in this league, you’re done. I’m excited to see Russ.”
Dak has never lost to the Giants...
13-0 to be exact.
In fact, Prescott's one of just three quarterbacks in NFL history who can claim this kind of dominance. He is tied with Tom Brady for the second-longest streak over any one team - Brady had 13 straight wins over the Buffalo Bills from 2003-2010.
If the Cowboys win today, Prescott will push Brady to third and stand alone in second place in that stat. If he wants to make it into first place, however, he'll have to win 4 more to tie and 5 more to beat out the current record holder. Former Dolphins QB Bob Griese had 17 straight wins over the Bills from 1968 to 1979.

Cowboys and Giants - Where they stand
Both the Cowboys and the Giants are 0-1 after Week 1 losses to their other divisional rivals.
The Cowboys lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in a game that was closer than expected. Although Dallas kept it to a 24-20 game, crucial drops by WR CeeDee Lamb and a red zone fumble by RB Miles Sanders ultimately cost them.
The Giants, on the other hand, couldn't get into the end zone at all against the Washington Commanders. Washington's offense held them to just two field goals in a 21-6 loss. Quarterback Russell Wilson had a bad day, going just 17-of-37 passing and 168 yards. Their defense showed flashes, but ultimately the offense failed to capitalize on opportunities near the goal line.
Both teams will be looking to avoid an 0-2 slump and in divisional games, anything can happen.
