Giants 18 - 26 Steelers summary, score, stats TDs and highlights | NFL Week 8
The Giants as one last gasp at tying the game up but Beanie Bishop Jr. came up with a game clinching interception to end the Giants night and throw them into a further spiral as they drop to 2-6 after Week 8.
The Steelers, however, are flying high at the top of the AFC South and with this revamped offense this team is now a serious threat not only in the division but in the conference as well.
The Pittsburgh defense didn't have a great night. They let Jones and the Giants drive down the field, but luckily for them they were able to keep NY out of the end zone. When it mattered guess who showed up? The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt, came off the edge stripped Daniel Jones and made the recovery to essentially end the game as the Steelers D made another game changing play late in the fourth quarter. It doesn't matter how good Wilson and the offense plays, this is always going to be a defense first team.
The Giants would respond with a field goal to cut the lead to eight points and a few plays after the Greg Joseph field goal, Bobby Okereke forced a Russell Wilson fumble on the attempted scramble to give the Giants a chance to tie the game late in the fourth.
George Pickens looks like a new receiver with Wilson under center for the Steelers. He had 74 yards on 4 catches and made this huge play to set up Chris Boswell's fourth field goal of the night which stretched the lead to two possessions.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. had himself a night for the Giants, running for 145 yards and this touchdown to bring the Giants back to life early in the fourth quarter. Jones had a another good game on the road, in large part thanks to the run game. He finished the night with 264 yards on 24/38 passing.
In just his second start with the Steelers, Russell Wilson looked locked in from the start. He went 20/28 for 278 yards and a this TD to Calvin Austin for the second of the night for the 5'9" receiver out of Memphis. There were still questions surrounding Wilson after an average game last week against the Jets, but this game should do some convincing in the Steel City.
The game was in need of a spark plug after neither offense could find the end zone in the first 40 minutes. Calvin Austin came to the rescue with a 79 yard punt return to ignite the crowd and bring both offenses to life.
The Giants had scored just 10 points combined in their previous two games, but Daniels Jones had the offense moving well on Monday night. The only problem was, New York couldn't stop shooting themselves in the foot. They were flagged for five penalties in the first half, and 11 in the game to make life even more difficult for an already bad team. They would have to settle for field goals on three occasions and we went to halftime tied 9-9 from Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers home win streak on Monday Night Football was extended and more importantly, they climb to the top of the AFC North after their primetime win over the New York Giants. Calvin Austin scored both of the Steelers touchdown in the 26-18 win from Acrisure Stadium.
There were a lot more points scored than a lot of people expected coming into this game, but the touchdowns didn't start flowing until the second half. Najee Harris got off to a bright start with 80+ yards in the first half. He'd end the night over 100, but the Steelers couldn't convert their red zone trips into TDs in the first half.
IT'S ALL OVER!!!
Russell Wilson and the Steelers are going to win this game and climb to the top of the AFC North as the Giants drop their sixth game of the season.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM PITTSBURGH AND IT'S THE STEELERS GETTING THE BALL FIRST. THEY TAKE OVER FROM THE 30.
Tonight's odds
Coming into tonight’s game from Pittsburgh the Steelers are looking like the much better team, and the odds makers know that. Pittsburgh is a 6 point favorite for Monday Night Football, which the Over/Under set at 36.5 points.
Obviously, not many points are expected from the Giants, but I think the Steelers can pick up the scoring slack. I don’t expect the Giants to get blanked. I think they are good for at least 10 points. Don’t ask me why against this defense but if they score 10, I could see the Steelers putting up 27 or more.
Steelers win 27-13.
Jones' struggles since signing
While it’s hard to put all the blame on the shoulders on Giants’ QB Daniel Jones, when you are the leader of and offense that can’t score touchdowns, fingers will start to point in your direction. His offensive line stinks, and they let Saquon Barkley walk out the door, in large part because of the $160 million dollar contract Jones signed back in 2022. The Giants made the playoffs that year, and Coach Daboll won Coach of the Year. Since then, nothing has gone right for the Giants or for Daniel Jones. Since then Jones is 3-10 as a starter and has thrown 8 TDs and 10 interceptions. To make matters worse, hasn’t thrown a TD in a home game in over 660 days.
Star watch: Giants
While this has been another dark chapter in the miserable recent history books of the New York Giants, there is one ray of light that is shining through the storm. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers was taken by the Giants with the sixth pick, and despite the offensive ineptitude of New York, he has still managed to make a name for himself over the first half of his debut season. He missed a couple games due to a concussion, but in the five games he has played, he has 39 catches for 427 yards and 3 TDs. It’s hard to say what he would be doing if he had an offense that could move the ball, but it’s a tough task for a rookie WR to come in and change things around on a team that has scored 10 total points in the last two games.
Star watch: Steelers
The stars of the Steelers are on the defensive side of the ball, but all eyes tonight will be on Russell Wilson who had a decent debut with 264 yards and 2 TDs on 16/29 passing in his first game in black and yellow. It’s been a bit of a fall from grace since he left the Seattle Seahawks, but he’s looking to put a dreadful era in Denver behind him and move on in the final stages of his career. Wilson is the prototypical Steelers QB. Tough, agile, and a playmaker. Let’s not forget he’s a Super Bowl winner and a nine-time Pro Bowler who ws the TD pass leader in the NFL back in 2017. He’s not going to be asked to put up 40 points a game this year, but if he can give his defense a lead to protect, this is going to be a tough team to beat.
Season recap: Steelers
The Steelers started their season with Justin Field in under center, and their first few games were ugly offensively to say the least. They won those three games, but scored just 17 points a game in those wins. Three point losses to the Colts and the Cowboys created a bit of chaos in Pittsburgh, but Field and the Steelers responded with a blowout win over the Raiders, scoring 32 points in Las Vegas. That wasn’t enough to convince coach Tomlin that the offense had fixed their deficiencies so last week it was Wilson under center against the Jets. They would roll to another blow out win and with the Ravens loss over the weekend they have a chance to climb to the top of the division.
Season recap: Giants
After losing Saquon Barkley in the offseason, it was always going to be tough tredding for the Giants who weren’t a good team even with Barkley in their backfield. They lost their first two games to what turned out to be very good teams in the Vikings and the Commanders, and got their first win of the season in Cleveland on an ugly game against the Browns. They would play the Cowboys close, and then come up with a shock win against the Seahawks, but their last to games have been dreadful. They have scored a total of 10 points in their games against the Bengals and the Eagles over the last two weeks and now the Giants are on the brink of implosion yet again.
Last game: Steelers
The Steelers were 4-2 heading into their Sunday night game against the New York Jets, but there was something not exactly right with the way things were going on the offensive end. Justin Fields wasn’t exactly doing leading an offensive juggernaut so Mike Tomlin made the switch and put Russell Wilson in for the first time. It was a slow start but Wilson eventually caught on and passed for 264 yards and two TDs as the Pittsburgh defense do what they always do, dominate and force turnovers against Aaron Rodgers and the New Jets. Najee Harris continued his tear running the football for 102 yards and George Pickens had his best game of the season, going for 111 yards and 1 TD on five receptions in the 37-15 win.
The Steelers are primetime regulars. They just played the Jets last week on Sunday Night Football, and tonight they are back under the lights on Monday Night Football where they have an impressive streak on the line coming into their game against the Giants. Our Jen Bubel has more.
Last game: Giants
The Giants knew the day would come. The day that they would have to stand face to face with Saquon Barkley, who they refused to pay big money to keep him in New York. He joined forces with the Giants division rivals, the Eagles, and last week we had the first of many match ups to come between Barkley and his ex-employer. We could talk about Jalen Hurts, or AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith returning, of how the defense sacked Daniel Jones seven times, but it was all about Saquon and his return to the Meadowlands. The went for 176 yards and a TD on 17 carries and ripped the Giants defense apart. He had a chance to break his career high for rushing yards in a game, and coach Nick Sirianni asked him if he wanted to, but Barkley showed mercy on some of his old teammates as he let some of the back ups finish off the job in a 28-3 waxing of New York.
We are live from Pittsburgh
Hello everyone and welcome to Acrisure Stadium where the Steelers come into tonight on top of the AFC North despite making a midseason quarterback change last week. The Pittsburgh defense has been the back bone of the division leaders so far, but Russell Wilson who looks like he has been reborn after a disastrous stint in Denver has this team rolling into tonight as the New York Giants come into town in the midst of a midseason crisis. Daniel Jones and the Giants are having a desperately tough time scoring the football and to make mattes worse they are coming off a game in which they got ran over by the guy they used to call their face of the franchise.
Giants vs. Steelers live
It’s Monday night from Pittsburgh and two teams in very different positions need a win for very different reasons. One is looking to keep on top of their division while the other is looking to get out of the gutter and put an end to a mid season crisis that could lead to people losing their jobs is things don’t turnaround. It’s the 5-2 Steelers taking on the 2-5 New York Giants and AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, highlights and analysis of tonight’s game from the Steel City.
