‘Good Morning Football’ is coming back but when will the hit NFL show relaunch?
It’s been a minute since football fans were able to enjoy one of the most popular shows out there, but that’s now set to change a little later this month.
While there are changes to the program’s structure and personnel, what has been assured is that the show will maintain the same quality of analysis that made it immensely popular. Now, it’s just a matter of patience for football fans.
‘Good Morning Football’ is coming back!
According to an announcement from NFL Media on Monday morning, ‘Good Morning Football’ is set to relaunch on July 29th from Los Angeles and will feature two new cast members. As per reports, NFL fans can now look forward to enjoying the Emmy Award-winning morning between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. ET with Jamie Erdahl, Peter Schrager, and Kyle Brandt making the move from New York where the show was previously staged. Alongside the traditional trio will be the likes of former NFL defensive end Akbar Gbajabiamila and news reporter Sherree Burruss, both of whom will be joining from the show’s new NFL Network studios.
The news is of course a big deal after the show essentially went dark at the end of March. While there were a handful of broadcasts related to the NFL Draft in April, there was nothing in the way of the production’s well-known takes on games. To that end, speculation about when the show would return and who it would feature has been intense. Understandably, Monday’s announcement has brought a sense of clarity to the situation and that was further supported by GMFB’s press release which alluded to a second segment that is entitled ‘GMFB: Overtime’ which will be available via streaming. In addition to the daily edition of “Good Morning Football” airing on NFL Network, a new two-hour series titled “GMFB: Overtime” will stream for free on The Roku Channel Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – noon ET. Also hosted by Erdahl, Schrager, Brandt, and Gbajabiamila, with Burruss on news, “GMFB: Overtime” – the first streaming and nationally syndicated sports TV talk show – will cover game topics, as well as the entertainment and lifestyle surrounding the NFL. “GMFB: Overtime” premieres on The Roku Channel on Monday, July 29, and will air in syndication across various local stations on Monday, Sept. 2. It goes without saying that NFL fans will be ecstatic about the news given the reception that the show has enjoyed since it debuted some years ago in 2016. Indeed, so much so was GMFB’s impact that many fans were not simply concerned about whether it would return but rather assumed that it would and, so were worried that it would not continue to have the same quality. Ultimately, with Erdahl, Brandt, and Schrager set to return, it appears those fears have been laid to rest, not to mention the fact that key producers will also be returning.
