Green Bay Packers 33 vs 40 Philadelphia Eagles summary: Aaron Rodgers injury, stats, and highlights | NFL Week 12
The Philadelphia Eagles ran wild against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night at Lincoln Financial Field to become the first team with double digit wins this season. Jalen Hurts and the rest of the Eagles ran for a grand total of 363 yard in the 40-33 victory.
Philly running wild
Philadelphia came into the game having scored just 14 points last week against the Colts and lost to the Commanders the week before. They were in need of a dominant performance like the one they had on Sunday. The score line was much closer that the game would have suggested. After a shootout in the first half, the Eagles took control of the game by running the ball and wearing down the Packers defense down in the second half.
It was a soggy lead up to the game in Philly and even though rain stopped falling, weather conditions didn’t improve once kickoff time came around. With the wind howling and Nick Siriani and the Eagles knew the run game was going to help them control the pace of the game while keeping Aaron Rodgers on the sideline. On Sunday they ran 30 more plays than the Green Bay Packers while out gaining them 500-342.
Hurts and the Eagles hit the ground running, from the start. Hurts had two 20+ yard runs on third down to march Philly down the field and set up the opening touchdown. Kenneth Gainwell scored the first touchdown of the night, and it didn’t take the Eagles long to put the next TD on the board.
Plenty of points in first two quarters
Aaron Rodgers threw his first of two interceptions on the Packers first drive, and the Eagles would jump on the QB’s mistake and make it a 13-0 just three plays later. Matt LeFleur’s team punched back with a quick strike TD drive led by Aaron Rodgers and finished off by AJ Dillon. The Packers got a rare defensive stop on the next possession when they turned the Eagles over on downs inside their own half of the field, and the Packers would go on to take their first and only lead with a Randall Cobb 11 yard touchdown catch to make it 14-13 in the first quarter.
Green Bay and Philadelphia would go blow for blow in the first half as the Packers were able to hang with the Eagles high powered run game. On the first play of the second quarter, Miles Sanders gave the lead back to the Eagles on a two yard TD run, but Quay Walker assisted the GB offenses’ efforts when he scooped up an AJ Brown fumble and took it 63 yards to set up the Packer counter punch. Rodgers hit Aaron Jones in the back of the end zone to tie the game up at 20-20 mid way through he second quarter.
The game changed when Jalen Hurts marched the Eagles down the field and scored a TD right before the halftime break, when he found Quez Watson on a 30 yard touchdown pass with just seconds remaining in the first half.
Rodgers injured oblique, didn't return
The Eagles and their run game turned it on in the second half as Hurts, Sanders and Gainwell seemed like they were averaging 8-10 yards on each of their runs. Instead of quick, three or four play drives, the Eagles built up scoring drives of 11 plays, 14 plays and 10 plays in the second half. Philly combined for 363 yards, with Hurts leading the way with 157 yards on the ground.
Aaron Rodgers was injured late in the first half, but didn’t head to the sideline until the third quarter. Once he left the field, he didn’t return and the reports out of the Green Bay medical staff is that Rodgers suffered an oblique injury.
Jordan Love came into the game in relief of Rodgers and made some great throws that should make Packer fans smile when they think of seasons beyond this one. He threw a 63 yard TD to Christian Watson, but by that time the Eagles had the game in the bag.
Jordan Love came on in relief of Aaron Rodgers who went to the locker room and never returned after looking visibly uncomfortable in the second half. Love looked pretty good coming off the bench. The Packers turned the the tables in a matter of minutes when they stopped the Eagles on 4th down and then scored just five plays later to take their only lead of the game.
Give credit to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers who fought back to get in the game and it didn't take them too long. AJ Dillon busted this 20 yard run to cut into the Eagles lead in the first quarter.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM PHILADELPHIA!!!!
The Eagles get the ball first as the rain has halted here in Philly.
Here comes Jalen Hurts and Philly looking to start this game off with an opening drive score from the 25.
Tonight's odds
According to Bet365.com the Eagles are 6.5 point favorites at home against the Packers, with the Over/Under set at 46.5. I’m taking the team that has their backs against the wall and facing desperation tonight. I’m taking the Packers +6.5 and with the conditions being how they are in Philly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this game go under 46.5
Rodgers rebound game?
Aaron Rodgers has been a shade of himself this season after winning the last two NFL MVPs. A lot of the blame goes to the offensive line and wide receivers, but there have been plenty of throws that Rodgers simply hasn't made. The Packers No. 12 has yet to throw for 300 yards this season, but despite Green Bay's record, their QB’s numbers aren’t terrible. He has thrown for 2,542 yards, 19 TDs and just 7 INTs and a passer rating of 93.2 but the Packers remain at 4-7 on the year.
Hurts for MVP
Jalen Hurts’ meteorite rise this season has propelled him into the MVP conversation. He is connecting on 68.3% of his passes and his TD-INT ratio is one of the best in the league at 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has shown how effective he is when he decides to scramble, and he proved that again last week against the Colts when he scored his eighth rushing TD of the year.
Weather in Philly
It’s going to be a soggy night in the City of Brotherly Love. The tarps came out and blanketed the turf at Lincoln Financial Field in preparations for tonight’s showdown. The run game will come at a premium under the bright lights in Philadelphia. It won’t be too cold tonight, with temperatures dropping just below 60° but there are showers predicted throughout the night.
Eagles back in the building
Devonte Smith and Jalen Hurts look to bounce back at Lincoln Financial Field after home loss to the Commanders two weeks ago. They have been flawless aside from their loss against their NFC East rival, and tonight they are going up against a desperate Green Bay team with everything on the line in Philly.
Packers on a mini bye
Green Bay come into tonight with just one win on the road. It came in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Aaron Rodgers passed for two touchdowns and the defense held the Bucs to just 12 points. Eagles last week
It may not have been pretty, but the Eagles won a tough game in Indianapolis that prove exactly what kind of team they are. They are a good team that can win games even when they play bad. They fumbled the ball twice, and struggled to punch the ball in the end zone but Jalen Hurts saved the day once again on the ground with a game winning rushing TD and 86 yards on the ground with 190 yards and a TD through the air.
Packers last week
The Packers are coming into tonight on a few days extra rest after losing to the Tennessee Titans 27-17 last Thursday night. The GB defense has been the only thing that has kept the Pack “in the hunt,” but last week Ryan Tannehill and the Titans lit them up for 400 yards, and the Tennessee QB tossed for 333 yards and two touchdowns, while Derrick Henry threw for another touchdown as the Titans edged the Packers in a chilly Lambeau Field.
