Update:

The Los Angeles Chargers played their first season under Jim Harbaugh in 2024. They finished the season at 11-6, a huge improvement from their 5-12 record in the previous year. They made it back into the postseason after a one-year absence, but lost in the Wild Card round to the Houston Texans.

But the 2024 season also happened to be the Chargers’ first season since 2012 without wide receiver Keenan Allen, who was traded to the Chicago Bears. But it’s 2025 now...and Allen may be making a return to L.A.

Chargers weigh Keenan Allen return

Harbaugh and the Chargers may be eyeing a reunion with longtime wide receiver Keenan Allen ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Allen, who spent over a decade with the franchise and earned six Pro Bowl nods, visited the team’s facility recently after a one-year stint with the Chicago Bears. While no contract has been signed, Harbaugh confirmed there is mutual interest and described Allen as a “competitor welcome” in L.A.

The Chargers are clearly in the market for a reliable veteran receiver following Mike Williams’ retirement. Allen’s familiarity with quarterback Justin Herbert and the organization makes him a natural fit. Though other teams have expressed interest, the Chargers are considered frontrunners to sign him.

Beyond this potential reunion, Harbaugh is leading the Chargers into 2025 with one major goal: dethroning the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. With focus on physicality and culture, the Chargers hope to turn last season’s playoff disappointment into a deep postseason run in 2025...maybe with the help of Allen.
