Historic fine. NFL punishes Falcons for “joke” on Shedeur Sanders
NFL cites breach of draft protocol after Falcons staffer’s son used team device to prank-call QB prospect Shedeur Sanders.

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been fined $100,000, and the Falcons $250,000 after Ulbrich’s son Jax, got draft prospect Shedeur Sanders’ phone number off Ulbrich’s iPad and used it to prank call Sanders.
An individual who was with Jax Ulbrich called Sanders and pretended to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and told Sanders he was about to be drafted by the franchise.
Sanders worked out it was a prank call and hung tight till the Cleveland Browns gave him the real call, in the fifth round.
NFL slams Falcons
The NFL said it levied the fines because the Falcons failed “to prevent the disclosure of confidential information distributed to the club in advance of the NFL Draft.”
Jeff Ulbrich apologized for the prank call and said he and his son Jax “take full responsibility” for what happened. The coach also said he wouldn’t appeal the fine and said both Jax and he had apologized to Sanders by phone.
