What injury does Houston Texans’ Stefon Diggs have? How long is he out for?
Texans wide receiver Diggs has been a key target for quarterback C.J. Stroud, but was injured against the Colts on Sunday.
It has been confirmed that Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the NFL season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Both the Texans and the NFL announced Diggs’ ACL injury on Tuesday, as Houston prepare for a Thursday Night Football clash with the New York Jets in Week 9.
When did Diggs tear his ACL?
Diggs suffered the injury in Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. The victory took Houston to 6-2 in the 2024 regular season, but the Texans must now do without a key target for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Traded from the Buffalo Bills in the off season, Diggs was brought in to bolster the Texans‘ prospects of a first ever appearance in the AFC Championship Game and, beyond that, a maiden trip to the Super Bowl.
However, Diggs now joins a Houston sick bay that also features another significant injury casualty at wide receiver. Prior to the 30-year-old’s ACL tear, Nico Collins was placed on the injured reserve list after damaging his hamstring during the Texans’ Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Who will replace Diggs?
In the absence of both Diggs and Collins, the Texans will have to turn to individuals such as Bank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson and Robert Woods as they seek their seventh win of the season against the Jets. Players like John Metchie III are also in contention for greater game time.
