How can Tom Brady sign a one-day contract and end his career with the Patriots?
Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday after 23 remarkable seasons in the league. How can he retire as a New England Patriots player?
On Wednesday, February 1, Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL gridiron after a 23-season journey, 20 of them with the New England Patriots, where he forged his legend as the G.O.A.T.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft knows that Brady was decisive in the growth of the franchise, from the sports side to the economic side. Brady won six championship rings with New England, putting the team on top of the list of Super Bowl winners along with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brady left hearts broken after leaving the Patriots to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom he also led to a Super Bowl win and his seventh career ring.
Retire as a Patriot?
In New England, no one has forgotten the veteran quarterback, which is why Kraft recognized the possibility of the quarterback retiring with the team that made him a star in the NFL.
“I would do it tomorrow. Not only do I want it, our fans are clamoring for it. To us, he is, always has been, and always will be a Patriot. We will do everything in our power to bring him back, have him sign off as a Patriot and find ways to honor him for many years to come. He did a lot to bring life and good cheer to our community and he is a darling.
“He has earned the respect and love that people feel for him like no other athlete in our city and we have had some great ones,” Kraft said in an interview with CNN.
While Brady has a job lined up as an analyst for Fox Sports and may be focused on that going into 2023, he apparently has an open invitation to sign an honorary deal with New England and end his career properly.
So if he wants to sign off as a Patriot, all he has to do is say the word.
