Although it is still unknown who the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback will be in the NFL season, Bo Nix raised his hand and warned that he is going for the starting position after debuting on the right foot.

Nix started the game as a backup to Jarret Stidham, who also threw an interception early in the game. The rookie, a graduate of the Oregon Ducks, threw for 125 yards and a touchdown pass.

Nix led Denver in scoring offense four times, with two touchdowns and two field goals. With 4:51 left, Nix found Marvin Mims Jr. on a 1-yard pass for his first touchdown.

Already in the third quarter, with Nix still at the controls, Audric Estime appeared with a two-yard run to put Denver 20-10 at that time. Shortly after, Zach Wilson replaced Nix on the field.

The Broncos went out to beat the Colts 34-30 in their first preseason game. Sean Payton confirmed that Bo Nix would start the Broncos’ second preseason game against the Packers.

JJ McCarthy also looks great

Bo Nix wasn’t the only quarterback who stood out in the first week of the preseason.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback, JJ McCarthy, a graduate of the University of Michigan, also shined in his debut.

McCarthy finished with 188 yards and two touchdown passes in Minnesota’s 24-23 victory over the Raiders, although, like in the case of Nix, Sam Darnold started the game for Minnesota.
