How did quarterback Aaron Rodgers respond to Davante Adams’ comparison of him and Derek Carr?

Aaron Rodgers has always been known a joker. Whether he is chugging a beer courtside at a Milwaukee Bucks game, chatting up a reporter in his college days or striking the “Discount Double Check” after scoring a touchdown, he has as much charisma as he does talent on the football field.

Did Adams take a shot at A-Rod?

Rodgers didn’t quite have his name dragged through the mud, but he was on the losing end of a comparison his former teammate Davante Adams gave about Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr.

“Anytime you change quarterbacks from Hall of Famer to Hall of Famer ... it’s going to be a little bit of an adjustment,” said the newly signed Raiders wide receiver.

While Carr is in the top echelon of quarterbacks in the NFL and has three Pro Bowls under his belt, he is far from achieving what Aaron Rodgers has achieved over the last two decades. He is a four time NFL MVP including the last two years, and has a Super Bowl ring to solidify his place in the conversation for top quarterbacks of all time.

When asked about his former favorite targets statements, Rodgers didn’t miss a beat saying “Yeah, I mean it’s always tough going from Hall of Famer to Hall of Famer,” Rodgers said, with a rye smile. “From Davante to Allen, it’s going to be a transition, but he’s capable of a lot.,” talking about Packer reciever Allen Lazard.

Carr has a long way to go before catch up to Rodgers

Carr has a losing record in his eight years with the Raiders, going 57-70 since being drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Meanwhile Rodgers is 142-70-1 over his future Hall of Fame career.

The Packers offense will certainly have a different look about it without Adams running route at Lambeau. The former Packer had 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns and went to the Pro Bowl in his final season in Green Bay.

Rodgers continued to jest with reporters, saying the Packers are “now a defensive team” without their top WR target of the last few years. “I like our defense on paper for sure,” said the gun slinger only to clarify “But offense still wins games, and we’re going to have to be efficient offensively.”

Adams stuck by his statements although admitted he maybe needed to add just another word in his comparison to keep critics off his back. “What I’m not going to do is take away from that statement because, why is Derek not a Hall of Famer? What I meant, I left one key word out of there because that’s not exactly what I meant. But I do think that Derek’s career is Hall of Fame-worthy, and why not? Does he have the MVPs right now? No. Has he won a Super Bowl? Not yet. That’s obviously what we’re chasing.”
