Hurricane Ian is causing a mess throughout western Florida. It’s currently a near Category 5 storm between Tampa Bay and Fort Myers, one of the most powerful and threatening storms the US has seen in years.

Of course, this means that professional sports are being affected as well, including the NFL and college football. Here is what you need to know regarding schedule changes in the NFL and college football due to hurricane Ian.

Hurricane Ian: NFL changes

The NFL is currently considering a change in location for Sunday’s game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs. The game is currentlu scheduled for this Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The league is expected to make a decision on where by Friday. Possible locations include U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis since the Vikings and Saints will be playing overseas in London this week.

Hurricane Ian: College football changes

University of South Florida vs East Carolina

South Florida’s game against East Carolina will take place in Boca Raton at Florida Atlantic University’s stadium, Howard Schnellenberger Field on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET. They were originally scheduled to play at 7 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

University of Florida vs Eastern Washington

The Florida vs Eastern Washington game has been moved from Saturday to Sunday at 12 p.m. ET and will take place at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

University of Central Florida vs Southern Methodist University

The UCF vs SMU game was rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday at Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida at 1 p.m. ET.

Florida State University vs Wake Forest

The Florida State vs Wake Forest is currently still scheduled as planned for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Doak Campbell Stadium. Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson, however, has said that he will not take his players there if he feels there is any danger.

University of South Carolina vs South Carolina State

The USC vs South Carolina game was rescheduled from Saturday to this Thursday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia at 7 p.m. ET.

Stetson vs San Diego

Stetson canceled the game against San Diego due to travel complications from the hurricane.
