How Jalen Tolbert “sprained his nuts” before Cowboys’ game-winning touchdown
Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Tolbert made the game-winning touchdown in the final minute to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he was in pain when he did it.
The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a late-night/early-morning game on Sunday/Monday. They came from behind in the final minutes and it was wide receiver Jalen Tolbert who had the go-ahead touchdown with 20 seconds left in the game to put the Cowboys up by three and eventually take the win.
Tolbert played through pain for game-winning TD
Behind WR1 CeeDee Lamb, Tolbert was filling in for an injured Brandin Cooks. While Lamb was out of training camp, Tolbert and quarterback Dak Prescott got a lot of practice in together and found their chemistry. That showed in Tolbert’s game-winning touchdown catch from Prescott.
What we didn’t know at the time is that Tolbert actually made that catch while suffering through quite a bit of pain in his, um...”nuts”. According to teammate and offensive lineman Tyler Smith, Tolbert had just moments before managed to suffer a “sprain”.
“Bro, it was miraculous,” Smith said. “JT literally sprained his f***ing nuts. Excuse me, sorry guys, sprained his nuts the play before. Then comes back, makes the game-winner. Unbelievable.”
Smith did not go into detail about how exactly this “sprain” occurred, but his facial expression and the way he spoke about the play indicate just how impressive it really was - even more so than we realized. If Tolbert was in pain, it certainly didn’t show to anyone else, as he leapt to make the catch on fourth down that would give Dallas the win.
Thanks to that, the Cowboys have improved to 3-2 on the season. They’ll face the Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 13 for a late-afternoon home game in Week 6.
