How long will Seahawks’ Jamal Adams be out for after suffering a quadriceps injury?
The loss of one of their best players will definitely be a blow, but with surgery now pending and no word on a return date, it’s much worse.
Though they will be happy with the 17-16 win in their opener against the Broncos on Monday night, they definitely won’t be pleased with the loss of their safety for the remainder of the year.
Seahawks Jamal Adams out for rest of year
Following their upset victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday night, reports have now confirmed that the Seattle Seahawks have lost one of their best players to injury and even worse, it would appear he’s out for the rest of the year. Safety Jamal Adams could be seen in clear discomfort as he was carted off with a leg injury. After several medical reviews, the former Pro Bowler has taken the decision to undergo surgery on what has been diagnosed as a turn quadriceps tendon.
While it is understood that Adams is still in discussion as to what options he has regarding his surgery - specifically what the proposed date for operation is - it is now certain that he will not be back this season. There is yet to be an official announcement on a timetable for his return.
What have the Seahawks lost in Jamal Adams?
Perhaps one of Seattle’s biggest signings in recent years, Adams has actually had his struggles with injuries in each of his three seasons with the Seahawks. Needless to say, given what it took to bring the 26-year-old to Seattle - two first-round Draft picks - there has been some frustration surrounding his lack of consistency. Fans will recall, that the former Jets star missed four games in 2020 as a result of finger and groin issues and then there were another four games in 2021 which stemmed from a torn labrum.
That being said, there is no doubt about Adams’ contribution when he’s been healthy. Indeed, as one of the Seahawks’ central most important defensive weapons, Adams set a record for sacks by a defensive back with 9.5 in 2020. That feat was then followed up with a career-high 31 assisted tackles and two interceptions in 2021. In truth, he was enroute to another memorable performance in Monday’s game before his night was ended by injury. The safety had three tackles, a pass deflection and a quarterback hit before leaving the field. Ultimately, this is a major loss for both the Seahawks and Adams who is NFL’s highest paid player in his position.
