The Patriots’ Super Bowl ambitions took a double blow in Week 3 with both a loss and the unfortunate injury to their starting quarterback.

Patriots’ Mac Jones injures left leg

With recent reports confirming, that the New England Patriots’ second-year quarterback Mac Jones suffered a left leg injury in the team’s Week 3, 37-26 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the franchise is undoubtedly holding its breath. With less than two minutes on the clock, Jones could be seen hopping off the field as he was clearly unable to place any weight on his leg. Needless to say, he did not return to the field of play.

Regarding how the injury itself occurred, it was a moment when Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell hit Jones high, ultimately landing on the hamstring area of his left leg. It was immediately clear that Jones has a problem, as evidenced by his sharp reaction. Following the hit, the QB gingerly got to his feet and proceeded to hop over to the sideline. Further reports, indicated that Jones was screaming in pain as he was carried by others to the team’s locker room.

What happens now for the Patriots and Mac Jones?

It would be in accurate to call it Jones’ best night. In truth, the Patriots’ signal caller struggled on Sunday afternoon, completing 22 of 32 passes for 321 yards and three interceptions. Credit should be given, as he was able to rush five times to the tune of 31 yards and one touchdown, but in the end, it was the Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson who dominated the evening’s proceedings. With that, the Patriots must now recollect themselves as they prepare to face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Unfortunately, with no word from Bill Belichick on his Jones’ status, it looks like they will have to do so without their starting QB.
