Jason Verrett gets hit again.
The 49ers veteran cornerback who was set to make his season debut this week in a comeback from a torn ACL that had sidelined him since Week 1 of the 2021 season, suffered another season-ending Achilles injury.
San Francisco announced Thursday that Verrett got injured in practice the day prior, and will be unable to play for the rest of the 2022 season.
Back in Week 1 of the 2021 season, Verrett exited that game with a torn ACL, putting an early end to his season in the wake of a 2020 promising campaign.
The 31-year-old has been a notable cornerback in the NFL when healthy, but has unfortunately been plagued with injuries since 2014.

Since being drafted in the first round by the Chargers that year, Verrett has been able to play more than six regular-season games in a season only twice in his career.
