How many yards short is Saquon Barkley of beating the single-season rushing record?
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is on pace to beat the NFL’s single-season rushing record before the season ends, but he will probably rest against the Giants.

The Philadelphia Eagles made a lot of good moves this offseason, but arguably their best one was adding former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
Barkley has had an incredible season with Philly, with 314 carries for 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns through 16 games. He also leads the NFL with 46 runs of at least 10 yards.
Barkley on track to break NFL record
Barkley is on track to break the NFL’s single-season record for the most rushing yards. Eric Dickerson set the current record in 1984 with 2,105 yards. Now, with just one game left in the season, Barkley would beat Dickerson’s record with just 101 yards against the New York Giants next week, but HC Nick Sirianni has confirmed that he will rest the superstar RB.

Barkley also joined an elite group of just eight other players in NFL history who have rushed for over 2,000 yards in a season. He needed 162 yards to get there today, and he got 167.

The Eagles face the New York Giants next week. It would have been poetic justice if Barkley had broken the record in the season finale against his former team.
